Lifeline Prison Team, North West

The Prison Service North West Area works in partnership with local community substance misuse services to ensure that all those prisoners requiring treatment, care and support have access to a range of innovative and effective interventions whilst in custody.  

Lifeline Project has a national and international reputation for providing effective interventions for substance misusers and their families. Lifeline is the largest provider of services to drug users in prisons nationally and provides a wide range of community based services from the Tyne to the Thames. Our aim is to try and reduce any physical, mental or social harm caused by drug use.

The provision of Care, Assessment, Referral, Advice and Throughcare Services (CARAT) is a fundamental part of the Prison Service drug treatment framework offering a consistent means of working with prisoners with drug problems.  This Tier 2/3 intervention aims to:

  • identify & assess the needs of drug misusing prisoners when they enter prison;
  • provide ongoing advice & support throughout their custodial period;
  • work in conjunction with internal & external services to ensure continuity of care;
  • provide continuity in treatment prior to, during and post custody.

Lifeline Prison Drug Throughcare Worker, HMP Liverpool

Salary Scale NJC 26-30, £21,412 - £24,545 (Pay Award Pending

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a talented, enthusiastic, determined and resourceful individual to work in this challenging field on a twelve month, part time contract for maternity cover at HMP Liverpool.  If you are interested in joining us, you will have experience of case management and planning and delivering high quality care packages that link across agency and disciplinary boundaries.

EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT WORKER – NORTH KIRKLEES

You will develop partnerships with local training and employment organisations, to assist them in providing appropriate support for Lifeline’s service users. You will support substance users to gain the confidence and basic skills to take advantage of local employment and training opportunities. You must have considerable experience (paid or voluntary) of project development and of working within a service supporting employment/training opportunities along with an awareness of current models of intervention with drug and alcohol users.

You will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the drug and alcohol Screening and Assessment Framework to services working with children and young people across the City of Manchester. In addition you will design, coordinate and deliver targeted prevention group work programmes to children and young people, who are vulnerable to substance misuse.

Lifeline Kirklees is a dynamic charity that operates in both Dewsbury and Huddersfield. We provide a range of services to people experiencing problems with alcohol and/or drugs.



As an alcohol worker, you will participate as a member of a multi disciplinary team delivering treatment services to adults affected by harmful or dependent drinking. Your main tasks will involve assessment, care planning, delivering psychosocial interventions in line with Models of Care for Alcohol (MoCAM) and NICE Guidelines. You must be a highly motivated, confident person with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach. You must have direct experience of working supporting adults in a social care, criminal justice or health setting.

ALCOHOL WORKER
(Criminal Justice)
(Contract for one year initially pending further funding)
Your primary purpose will be to work in partnership with West Yorkshire Probation Service, to deliver treatment services to offenders as part of an Alcohol Treatment Requirement Order.

Hours: 35 hrs p.w. covering a rota system of:
Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 8:00pm.
Saturday – Sunday: 8:00am – 3:30pm.

You will work within the DIP Team as part of a specialist team, in a wide variety of settings offering a broad range of criminal justice interventions to offenders with substance misuse problems, including alcohol. You will also sign up clients to DIP and provide general information, harm minimisation advice, screening, assessments and outreach. You will work alongside partner agencies in the Kirklees Police Custody areas.

You must have direct experience of working supporting adults in a social care, criminal justice or health setting, a knowledge and understanding of the Drug Intervention Programme and how it fits into criminal justice services and an awareness of current models of intervention with drug and/or alcohol users.
